Learning How To Go Through High School By: Fadil

I’m currently a junior in high school and I gotta tell you, it was really hard at first adapting to the environment and the new ways of learning and how there is a quiz and test like everyday. The thing about high school is that it’s not all laid back and chilling, you have to push yourself to your highest potential and work hard. One way to succeed is first you have to be yourself in high school, you can’t be like everyone else trust me being yourself is the best thing.

Exact Opposite of High School

One tip to exceed in high school in my opinion is to always stay on top of your homework, you must always have it done and keep all your notes and that my friends is one of the best ways to succeed high school.

  1. Hey Fadil!
I really felt what you were saying in your blog post. When I first came to Okemos, it was so hard. I kept begging my parents to let me switch schools, because my GPA had drastically dropped after the 1st quarter of my sophomore year. Then I came to realize, Junior year is double the amount of work, time, and effort that I had to put forth in my tenth grade year. I have now realized, that school is not all that hyped up as it seems to be. I feel accomplished with the GPA I now have, even though it has dropped, due to me trying my hardest and being myself. Staying on top of homework is key. Also, making sure you review everything that was learned the week before or the week of a test is pretty smart. Although, you cannot forget that your mental and emotional being comes first! School should not come before your family or health, and as long as I know that I am doing my best with those two factors, I feel as if I am successful.

    1. Dear Taia,
Thank you for reading my blog, and yes I felt the same way when I came to Okemos for highschool i kept begging my parents to go to East Lansing or Eastern becasue all of my friends were not in Okemos plus Okemos was too hard my my gpa was really bad. Throught the years tho now I’m doing better then I did in Freshmen year but I still wish I could have gone to another school but it’s whatever now, no point of changing when I’m basically a senior!

  2. Fadil,

You are absolutely right. High schools are no where like the middle schools. I had really good grades in middle school and felt like I could do an extremely good job in high school. But that didn’t exactly happen (lol) Also in high school, it is not only about grades but you also have extracurricular activities, volunteering and etc to do. I think time management is the key to success in high school. Can you imagine how life in college will differ from high school?

    1. Kevin,
Thank your for reading my opinions and to answer your question I think life in College will be much better because of one thing and that is freedom. In college you have more work yes but you have a lot more freedom.

  3. Fadil,
I truly agree with every one of your statements in this blog. Especially the one about being yourself. That is one thing that is great about high school, no one cares about what you wear anymore or who you are like people did in middle school. High school really teaches people who they are. I thought that high school was going to be a lot more chill than it actually is because all four of my older siblings had it very easy in their senior year so I took it high school was like that in general when it is the complete opposite. Like you said, if you stay on top of your homework you are set, and always always stay organized because it is guaranteed to come back and bite you.
